“New Rules” was the song that took Dua Lipa to another level. Released from her self-titled debut album, it turned the struggle of staying away from an ex into three rules every heartbroken girl could repeat to herself: don’t pick up the phone, don’t let him in, and definitely don’t be his friend.
The music video made it even more iconic, with Dua and her friends looking out for each other as she tries to stop herself from going back to the same relationship. The choreography, pastel Miami setting, and girl-power energy made it one of the defining pop videos of the late 2010s.
